Home Evaluation

Our goal is to place our dogs in homes where they will be well cared for and loved for their entire lives. The evaluation is to help prospective owners feel confident in their choice of a breed and kennel, and to help us feel confident in a match for our dogs.

What qualities attracted you to the Clumber Spaniel?

What type of pets do you have now? How long have they been with you? Describe their health.

Have you owned a dog previously? What happened to the dog?

Describe the composition of your household. How many adults?
How many children and what are their ages?

Do you expect any change in the composition of your family?

Who will be the primary caregiver for the dog? Who will care for the dog during extended absences? Who will handle midday walks?

Describe your home. Do you rent or own? Is it an
apartment, condo, townhouse or single family home?

Do you have reason to anticipate a move?

Do you have a yard? What type of fencing: type and height?

For how long and in what manner would a dog be confined in your absence?

A puppy can be almost as disruptive to your lifestyle and environment as a newborn child. What training, socialization, grooming and housetraining exercises do you intend to employ to get you through the first year?

Will you promise to attend a puppy sociaization/obedience class with your Clumber?

Would you prefer a male or female? Would you consider the opposite?

Would you consider an older dog if one became available?

Do you intend to show or breed?

Would you consider a co-ownership?

Will you promise to complete annual CERF eye evaluations?

Will you promise to have your Clumber’s hips x-rayed at the age of two for evaluation by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals?

In the event your dog develops a serious illness do you promise to consult us about treatment recommendations?

We consider placement of a dog to be a pact between the parties to secure the dog’s welfare for its lifetime. Through this agreement, we offer lifetime refuge for any dog we produce which an owner cannot keep. Will you promise to return the dog to us with little or no monetary refund should unforeseen circumstances prevent you from keeping it?
